Like yourself, I limited his phone line to a topup prepaid and his data plan is limited to 1GB. Any extra charges will have to be explained at the end of the month when the bill comes around. We also try to surround him with loads of books and magazines. It also helps that his CCA requires him to be outdoors most of the time.

Other ways i try to be involved in his life and what he is interested in include:

– I reserve the right to access his phone and all his apps (as part of the ‘deal’ before we gave him a phone)
– I am his intagram follower
– I share with him interesting articles, videos, photos, jkes via whatapps/instagram (since he uses them most frequently and I might as well use them to connect with him)
– I encourage his friends to come over to our place for projects or simply to chill over Xbox etc especially during the holidays so that I get to know them and thhat actual friends and face to face interactions are valued in today’s digitalised world
Having said that, it is not easy and will get more difficult and I will be happy to learn more.
