Thanks for the article , Walter. I feel that while you can possibly reason with critics and even have a healthy discussion, it’s not the approach trolls or haters would appreciate. I’d usually tolerate the comments and hope that the reasonable readers would step in and troll-stomp. I would like to believe that as our society matures, social community graced, self-regulation and policing would equalise the sentiment.

What I have done before was the classic name n shame, including the troll’s IP address, and poking fun at the troll’s lack of coherence over various postings. Gave the troll 5mins of fame and she never came back again.

Sometimes being nice all the time has its disadvantages. Knowing when to put a foot down and state that I don’t tolerate bullying or trolling works best for me. 🙂
