Many of the relatives, friends etc. are not pros with expensive camera armed with high power flashes.

Sometimes the ‘disaster’ events are more memorable.

I think that the two people that can make or break an awards show are –

The host. If they are a good professional presenter they will keep things entertaining AND keep moving on through the endless handouts.

The showcaller. Anticipating lighting, sound, camera and video cues for a (usually)lightly rehearsed / on the fly show is an art.
