Sometimes it really makes one wonder .. what happen if there is no new entrant or new substitution?

Will the company (Ocean Park or others) bother to change? Or force to change only when there is a need to.

Change is constant for sure.

We buy new clothes so that people sees us with new eyes. So it’s inevitable that Ocean Parks has to reinvent, revamp and renew itself to make itself relevant to the fast changing pace of the world and the flickering minds of consumers.

Its the emphasis on nature and wildlife which sets them apart from Disney, although Ocean Park also has theme park style rides and thematic events. What particularly inspired me was how they managed to grow even bigger and better when Disney opens. It shows how savvy marketing can overcome even the most heavily bankrolled competitors.

I visited Ocean Park in the early 80’s after it was opened not long ago. Yes, I think the kind of visitor experience that they provide is quite different from that of Disneyland. After all, if Gold Coast can have 3 “Worlds”, Hong Kong should be able to accommodate more than one big theme park.
